Anthony and his dog, Bullet, were out for their usual evening walk. Being an avid Sci Fi reader, Anthony loved to speculate on extraterrestrial life and what it would be like to experience new worlds. An interesting and fun fantasy, but reality has a way of putting a serious damper on dreams. When a UFO swoops down and snatches up him and his dog, all Anthony can dream about is getting back home. He now has the status of an interesting pet and despairs at the prospect of ever recovering his former life.
Then he sees it, and his situation seems a little less dire. The golden ship that captures his imagination and eventually his heart. He doesn't know it yet, but it could be the answer to his prayers or the bane of his existence. Only time will tell, but one thing is certain. His destiny will be forever entwined with the golden ship called Beautiful.

Interesting sci fi novel. The main character, Anthony, and his dog Bullet are beamed up by an alien ship and intended to serve as pets to a prince of a more "highly evolved" species. Instead, Anthony befriends a living ship and escapes, but the unhappy aliens target his family back on earth and the fight begins.Pros: good strong main characters, excellently drawn relationships, decent worldbuilding, some clever ideas. Like the limits given to the intelligent ship, which otherwise could have become overwhelming.
Cons: a raft of secondary characters and most of them poorly differentiated, kind of predictable plot, cardboard bad guys, some stilted dialogue. A few missing and misused words, but not nearly enough to jolt me out of the story.
All in all, a good effort, and if not a page-turner, it's a readable book. We'll call it 3.5 stars.

This book was a really good read. Fast paced. Very reminiscent of Octavia Butler. I enjoyed that the lead character was African American. This book was so good I read it in an hour.
What a fun book to read!!!! Just when I thought it was a cliche' Avatar meets Area 59 story it takes an unpredictable turn and never looks back. Lots of action and the author does a great job at unveiling plot thickening surprises to keep you reading. I, like the other reviewer, just wanted it to be longer. There's got to be a sequel because I need to know what happens next.
This book has a great imaginative story line. There are also some profound metaphores related to bigotry and intolerance. The writer was quite thoughtful and creative in how he invisions that African Americans might react to an alien abduction. He has struck that rare and delicate balance between humor and serious adventure. Bravo!
I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed this book as much as I did. This book is full of suspense and I am waiting impatiently for the sequel.
I found the story really entertaining and it kept me engaged from start to finish. It has much to recommend it to sci-fi fans, but also captures a family dynamic that includes conflict and cooperation that kept me turning pages until I had devoured the book. The writer invents an alien race that turns an East Palo Alto family upside down, while raising the consciousness of humans and their pets. A great first foray for the writer, I'm looking forward to the next story.
Wow what a fabulous book!! I enjoyed the rhythm and the thought provoking ideas that are too numerous to detail. If in fact we (earth) were invaded I am convinced that I would want to be with Anthony. All of my complaints are actually compliments. I would like to see the author flush out the characters more, I feel as though he was teasing us with the possibilities. I felt cheated, a premature ejaculation of words. I wanted more.
